Max Fried issued a leadoff walk to Wilson Contreras to begin the fourth inning. He then got Wilyer Abreu to strike out swinging, his first swinging strikeout of the game. He got Ceddanne Rafaela then to fly out to shallow center field, and Caleb Durbin then flew out to end the inning, and Fried was able to strand the runner.

Boston once again did a good job of working Fried in the frame.
