Yankees Bottom of the Eight — ALWCS G1
Yankees 9, Red Sox 0 After 8
Geroge Lombard Jr. is six months older than me. He's recorded three hits in four at-bats to begin his postseason career.
He is the second youngest player to have three or more hits in his postseason debut; the only one with more was Gregg Jeffries, according to the ESPN Radio broadcast.

Ryan McMahon then took a four-pitch walk. Anthony Volpe then hit a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners into scoring position. It was a really good bunt from Volpe. He's a guy at the bottom of the Yankees order that needs to know how to bunt well, something the Yankees practiced.
Okay this time Volpe bunts the runners over 👏 https://t.co/cZhX31xzgR pic.twitter.com/Ga6w2lPOC5

A walk issued to Spencer Jones loaded the bases with one out for Austin Wells with a chance to break the game open. Wells got the run home, just missing a grand slam to the right, but recorded the sacrifice fly. The Yankees needed runs. He did that. Situational hitting rules.
Hell yeah Wells. Great game. 5-0 Yanks pic.twitter.com/5CXv9SB36S

Paul Goldschmidt then took a full-count walk to reload the bases for Ben Rice. Rice hit a grand slam to break the game open. Just outstanding. His fourth hit of the game.
Ben Rice Grand Slam.

9-0 New York. Outstanding. "Up for Grabs," as @RealMichaelKay said on ESPN Radio. pic.twitter.com/evJgduBj8m
Even better, the Yankees can sit down closer David Bednar. In a three-game series, saving your closer is huge. He can be used tomorrow now, should there be a save situation.
