Starting Lineups for the Yankees and Red Sox -- ALWCS G1

NEW YORK — The Yankees and the Red Sox are gearing up for yet another postseason matchup of the two greatest rivals in professional sports history.

At one time in history, it was Pedro Martinez vs. Roger Clemens. Tonight, it's Peyton Tolle (LHP, 9-6, 3.03) vs. Cam Schlittler (RHP, 14-6, 1.95). Both are young aces that will be part of this rivalry for many years to come. It's an absolute box-office pitching matchup.

First pitch will be at 8:15 PM ET on NBC or Peacock.

Yankees Lineup Notes:

• New York goes with Anthony Volpe at second base over Jazz Chisholm Jr. This happened last season when the Yankees faced Garrett Crochet in Game 1 against Boston, and Chisholm Jr. did not take it well. This season, manager Aaron Boone made sure Chisholm Jr. did not feel left out, telling reporters, "I texted him, 'Hey, you might be the most important person in the building tonight. We need you to be ready to go for the biggest spot, potentially.'"

Red Sox Lineup Notes:

• Willson Contreras is in the starting lineup, at first base for Boston. Contreras was out of the Boston lineup after being hit on the hand eight days before the regular season ended. He took at-bats on Sunday against the Cubs.
• Interestingly, Roman Anthony is the DH tonight with Boston putting Jarren Duran in left field today, seemingly going with the defense in the matchup.
