George Lombard Jr. blooped a single in his first career postseason at-bat, which is cool to see for the kid.

Amed Rosario, who is on the Yankees postseason roster solely because of his history against left-handed pitching, was sent down on three pitches before Volpe could line a single in front of Rafaela, but because of his arm, Lombard Jr. had to hold at second base.

After Spencer Jones popped out in foul ground, Austin Wells lined an RBI single to right to give the Yankees a 1-0 advantage, which prompted an early mound visit.

Paul Goldschmidt grounded out to end the inning, but the Yankees were able to draw first blood.
